Psychometric properties of workplace deviant behavior scale - short form (WDS-SF).
Abstract
This study aimed to analyze the psychometric properties of the Workplace Deviance Scale - Short Form (WDS-SF) in Brazilian professionals. A total of 52 Brazilian professionals, employed, with an average age of 34.8 years (SD = 11.7), predominantly women in technical roles in health and education, participated. The WDS-SF and a socio-demographic and functional questionnaire were applied online in 2023. Descriptive statistics, factor analysis, and correlation were conducted. The results indicate that the WDS-SF, with nine items in three factors (productivity, interpersonal, infractional), is psychometrically robust to assess deviant behaviors at work. These factors are related to actions that violate ethical norms and organizational policies, aiming to achieve personal or interpersonal objectives or advantages, often to the detriment of others or the organization. The study contributes to a better understanding of cultural aspects in Brazilian organizations, highlighting how the assessment of deviant behavior can influence the work and organizational environment.
