what is the role of media literacy in the education of young people and adults?
Abstract
This article deals with part of the results of the doctoral research, in the Media and Everydaylife at the Universidade Federal Fluminense (UFF) postgraduate program, which seeks interfaces between the fields of education and communication. The investigation of media literacy of young people and adults of the Niterói Municipal Network is presented, understanding literacy as a tool for an emancipatory and critical education. Our objective is to analyze the interpretative capacity of the investigated subjects regarding the information that permeates society. The results obtained so far indicate that literacy in the daily school life of young people and adults has been an essential tool in the construction of citizenship of these subjects, in the expansion of their world view, in addition to enhancing their criticality.
